About

Welcome to the official website of Oscar Leal Jr, also known as Oanderle (pronounced Oh-anne-der-lee). Oscar is a talented Pop Rock singer who has been playing the piano keyboard since the age of 8.

Born in Durango, Mexico, Oscar has always had a deep passion for music, creating melodic and cinematic pieces that captivate audiences worldwide. Oscar currently resides in Texas, having moved to the United States with his family when he was six years old.

At the age of eight, a family friend gifted him a small Yamaha piano keyboard with 49 keys. Oscar taught himself to record different musical instruments in layers, such as keyboard sounds, bass, drums, and strings. His father noticed Oscar’s interest in the piano and suggested that he take piano lessons. Although Oscar initially did, he found it easier to remember and play music by ear and stopped attending piano lessons after a few months.

Oscar began his musical journey by attending the music program at his church with his parents and learning to play hymns on the piano and the guitar. During middle school, he played the saxophone in the school band. In high school, he took a classical guitar class and that’s when he started writing most of his songs.

It was during this time that he also began to save to purchase recording equipment such as microphones, sound mixers, amplifiers, and recording software.

In college, Oscar pursued a music major, where he learned music theory and various ear-training techniques to identify music intervals, which helped him with his music composition. He also became a member of the Kappa Chi Chapter for the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity at Del Mar College, where he met many individuals who shared his passion for music. It was during his time in college when he purchased his first professional MIDI Piano Keyboard (a Yamaha KX8) and two Casio WK-3200s which he used for many years. Today, he has a 76-Key Casio WK-6600 Keyboard and an M-Audio 49 Keystation MIDI Controller.
